California Love

For those who are not familiar with where I grew up; saying it with my chest, I am a proud product of Boston Massachusetts. Particularly, a vibrant neighborhood that I spent the early part of my childhood, Dorchester. If you have never been to Boston, I would encourage you to visit at least once in your lifetime. It is a city ripe with history, higher education, culture, and great food.

I have been living in the Bay Area for 2 years now, and I can say that I have enjoyed the change of scenery. My wife, kids, and in-laws seem to have all adjusted to the Bay Area way of life (hard no to when the average temperature feels like 80 degrees). I enjoy the lifestyle more than anything. Not that I haven't met some really good people out here, but being able to be out with the family all year 'round, and not having to worry too much about the weather has given us some great moments together.

My wife jokes about the fact that California has always been on my radar. I concede that she is right. I don't think I am an adventurer, but traveling across the US to my new home was exciting. A new job, a new home, new everything; was daunting at first. Slowly but surely we all began to find our way; not only as a family, but as individuals. It hasn't always been easy but we have managed to make the most out of every opportunity placed in front of us.

California is not perfect at all, and I will always consider Boston my home. As time has gone by this new unfamiliar place is starting to feel familiar. The drive home is starting to feel normal, the kids are beginning to choose their favorite places to eat, and we have settled in at a church. I don't regret this move at all. That uncomfortable place we were in was just growth. We will continue to grow every day, and I couldn't pick a better place to do it in. #bayarea #california #motivation
